“The great rule of conduct
for us, in regard to domestic nations, is in extending our commercial
relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. Europe has a set of primary interests, which to us have
none, or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent
controversies the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns.
Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves, by artificial
ties, in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics, or the ordinary
combinations and collisions of her friendships or enmities.”

"Impress
upon your children the truth that (voting) is a… duty of as solemn a nature as
man can… perform; that a man may not innocently trifle with his vote; that every
elector is a trustee as well
for others as himself."

I'm not suggesting that we
have the power to heal physical conditions with our human fingers. But I do
believe there's a healing of the spirit that takes place when we touch others.
There's a comfort that can't
be found anywhere else but in a touch or a hug. Somehow, God's love and power
is shared with others through the simplicity of our physical touch.

See, in the liberal mind, it’s better to “care” about a problem than it is
to actually solve it. Whether it’s poverty, racism, substance abuse, teen
pregnancy, illegal immigration, public education, the threat from radical Islam
or nearly any other problem we face, liberals would rather make the effort to
convince you how much they can empathize and “feel your pain,” than they would
to actually do the hard work of implementing policies to fix the problems or
reduce the threats.
